Who is HoomKid for?

HoomKid supports all children aged 3 to 10 through all the emotions that shape their day.
It is a simple, caring tool that helps them put their feelings into words, calm down, fall asleep, or simply dream.

For children who experience anger, fear, sadness, or frustration.
For those who lack self-confidence or have difficulty concentrating.
For highly sensitive children, children with ADHD, gifted children, or children with high emotional potential, whose emotions are often experienced more intensely.
For families who want to establish a soothing evening ritual.
For parents looking for a ready-to-use tool to address emotions without tension.

HoomKid can be used at any time of day:

after an angry outburst to regain calm,
in the morning with a short yoga or breathing session,
during a long car journey,
at bath time or snack time,
before bed to calm the mind,
or even as a family, with parents and siblings, to talk, laugh, and reconnect.

HoomKid is suitable for all children, whether they need to refocus, feel reassured, or simply escape.
It transforms every listening session into a moment of calm, connection, and inner growth.

How does it work

The child chooses their mode, emotion, and audio themselves using two simple, intuitive dials.
1. I activate “Calm” or “Awake” mode depending on the time of day.
Calm: to fall asleep, after a tantrum, before bedtime, or during a bath.
Awake: in the morning, before school, during snack time, or on a journey.

2. I turn the dials.
Top: I choose the emotion (joy, fear, anger, sadness, serenity, confidence).
Bottom: I choose the type of audio (story, meditation, yoga, music, philosophical tale).

3. I listen. The journey begins.
No screen, no waves. Just the voice, sounds, and imagination.

Benefits for the child

Reduces anxiety and distress through speech, breathing, and relaxation.
Builds self-confidence by learning to recognize strengths and express emotions.
Makes it easier to fall asleep and improves sleep quality.
Improves concentration and the ability to refocus.
Stimulates curiosity, creativity, and imagination.
Strengthens the parent-child bond through discussions after each story.
Develops emotional intelligence, which is essential for balance and academic success.

An innovation inspired by science

Developed with Élisabeth Couzon, a clinical psychologist and author of the bestseller The Magic of Emotions, HoomKid draws on years of research in child psychology, sophrology, hypnotherapy, meditation, and yoga.
Each story is designed as a captivating audio adventure, told with the quality of a Pixar film - funny, poetic, and deeply soothing.

With its 96 audio programs (from 2 to 20 minutes), HoomKid offers a unique format that combines enjoyment with emotional regulation:
• 48 stories about emotions
• 24 guided meditations
• 6 philosophical tales
• 6 yoga poses
• 12 ambient music tracks

Each story incorporates scientifically validated relaxation techniques: mindful breathing, body scans, hypnotic suggestion, visualization, and cardiac coherence, naturally guiding children toward calm.

The story behind the product

Since 2012, LIVLAB has helped adults sleep better and manage stress with natural tools like Dodow and HoomBand.
With HoomKid, the founders - three former insomniacs who became fathers - wanted to pass this knowledge on to younger generations.

The idea: to learn early on how to recognize, name, and regulate emotions before they become sources of anxiety in adulthood.
HoomKid was designed as a gateway to emotional well-being, through stories inspired by therapeutic techniques and animated films.

An object designed to bring science, imagination, and childhood together.

" It’s the first storyteller that truly speaks about emotions. Every HoomKid story contains a personal development key, subtly woven into the narrative.
The child never receives a direct “moral lesson”: they experience an emotional journey through an adventure, a character, an image, or a sound.
It’s this approach, both playful and symbolic, that enables them to recognize what they’re feeling without even realizing it.

    FAQs

Can I listen to a Calm in Awakening story and vice versa?

You can certainly let your child listen to a story from Calm mode to help them relax during the day. There is no specific order to follow; the goal is to find audio suited to how your child is feeling and help them find answers to their questions or ways to manage their emotions.

Can I let my child play alone?

You can let your child explore HoomKid on their own; this will also allow them to discover their inner self and take responsibility by choosing what they want to listen to.

Can my child listen to HoomKid with headphones or earbuds?

Yes, it is entirely possible to listen to HoomKid with headphones or earbuds, thanks to the headphone jack on the side of the device. For young children, it is essential to ensure that the volume is appropriate for their age. That is why we developed our own headphones: the HoomKid headphones, available on the Livlab.care website. Designed especially for children aged 3 and over, they are limited to 80 decibels to protect their hearing while ensuring optimal sound quality. They are foldable, sturdy, adjustable, and fit small heads perfectly. These headphones are ideal for safe listening at home or while traveling, allowing children to fully enjoy HoomKid’s stories and meditations without any risk to their ears.

How do I choose my story?

Once your child has chosen the color of the theme they want to explore, as well as the story or activity, simply set the theme color on the first dial and the story or activity symbol on the second dial. Then press the start button. Here we go!

Can I see the battery level of my HoomKid?

When HoomKid is powered on, its charge level is indicated by the charging LED to the right of the USB-C port. If it is off, you have at least 2 hours of listening time remaining. If it flashes red, you have less than 2 hours of listening time left (a full charge provides approximately 10 hours of playback).

Why is yoga good for my child?

Yoga is an ideal activity for reducing attention and concentration difficulties. It helps children tune into their bodies, find their balance, practice body postures, and develop flexibility. Over time, they will learn self-control and relaxation for a better quality of life.

Why is meditation good for my child?

For adults and younger people alike, meditation is an extremely beneficial activity for maintaining balance. Children learn that meditation is not about doing nothing; it means focusing on what surrounds them and on the emotions they feel, and trying to understand them so they can return to a state of calm more easily. Through meditation, children improve their concentration and well-being. This comes through regular practice incorporated into daily life, like a routine.

From what age can my child use HoomKid?

HoomKid is suitable from age 3. This is the age when vocabulary begins to develop through words, imagination, and emotions! It is also the age when children start school, play, and make friends, which leads them to discover new emotions and ask many questions. We recommend HoomKid up to age 10, as children develop over time. Their needs and desires are not the same at age 4 as they are at age 8. Understanding also changes with age, allowing children to rediscover a story they heard when they were younger. That is why we created a variety of content to support children through different stages of their development. And whatever your child’s age, the audios in Calm mode are designed to help them find calm and relax every day!
